Access
24-hour access is a rule, not a mood.
Secure storage and round-the-clock access are the questions people attach to a unit once the size is settled. They deserve straight definitions.
This page is an informational guide to what “24-hour access” and “secure storage” should mean when a storage provider uses those phrases. Baexrs does not operate a storage facility and does not provide 24-hour access of its own. An enquiry does not produce a gate code. Ask a confirmed provider which doors open, at which hours, and on which holidays. The security guide is the longer checklist.
What 24-hour should mean
It should mean you may enter at any hour, with a code, a card, or a key, under a written rule. It sometimes means the gate is 24-hour and the office is not. It sometimes means a unit is accessible only during a wide window that marketing has rounded up. Ask which doors, which hours, and what happens on a statutory holiday. If your job finishes at midnight and the gate actually closes at ten, the product does not fit, however bright the sign.
What secure should make you ask
Who else has a code. Whether codes are unique. Whether the corridor is lit. Whether the operator can describe the lock you are required to use. Whether cameras exist, and whether anyone looks at them or they are only recorded. Whether a fence is the entire storey. Lighting you can see is worth more than a camera you are told about and cannot verify. Baexrs will not invent a camera count to sound equipped.
Your own lock still matters. A facility gate is a front door. The unit lock is the room door. Use a lock the facility accepts. Keep the key or the combination somewhere that is not inside the unit.
Secure is not the same as climate, and not the same as insurance
A locked room can still be damp. A camera does not replace a contents policy. If the goods are sensitive, read the climate page. If you are comparing prices, ask whether insurance is required on top of the rate. The rentals page lists that line item. Vancouver’s city guide mentions secure storage as a local question. It does not change the questions you should ask a provider.
Who needs the night gate
Shift workers, restaurant owners collecting inventory after service, and households loading after a workday that does not match an office window. If you will visit twice a year, you do not need 24-hour access, and you should not pay a premium for it without noticing. Say your real pattern in the enquiry.
Does Baexrs offer 24-hour access?
No. Baexrs does not operate a storage facility or publish an access schedule. 24-hour access, if it exists, is a rule of a specific storage provider. Ask that provider in writing.
Is secure storage a different product from self storage?
It is self storage described by its access and protection. The unit decision still lives on the storage units page.
Are cameras a guarantee?
No. Ask whether they exist, whether they record, and who responds. Then insure what you cannot afford to lose.
What lock should I buy?
The one the facility permits. Disc locks are commonly requested. Follow their rule so the lock is not cut for the wrong reason.
Where do I read the longer checklist?
On the security page, which is educational. It does not replace this guide.
Match the gate to the life
Write the hour you will actually arrive, including the ugly one. If that hour is inside a normal evening, you may not need a 24-hour premium. If that hour is after a shift, you do, and a gate that is “late” rather than overnight will fail you. Ask which doors the code opens. A gate that opens while the building door does not is not access to the unit. Secure storage, as people ask for it, is the same conversation plus lighting, locks, and the limits of cameras. The security checklist is the longer version.
Vancouver is one of the few city guides with an explicit secure-facility note. The questions do not change there. Insurance still sits outside the camera.
